VRA is a publicly owned, public use, General Aviation Airport located in Vermilion County 4 miles NE of the City of Danville, Illinois.

Definition of Airport Maintenance Personnel: To undertake and supervise the overall maintenance of the airfield, grounds, buildings, vehicles, and other designated maintenance areas. To assess all airport repair and maintenance needs and to plan and implement activities to meet those needs and all related work as required under the supervision of the Airport Manager.

Wage / Salary: $41,600-$52,0000, annually
Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on airport facilities and equipment
  • Conduct inspections of runways, taxiways, and aprons to ensure they meet safety regulations
  • Assist with snow removal and de-icing operations during winter months
  • Operate maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and tractors
  • Respond to emergency situations and perform necessary repairs to ensure safety
  • Maintain and repair lighting systems on runways and taxiways
  • Perform landscaping and groundskeeping duties around the airport premises
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of airport vehicles and machinery
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • Document and report maintenance activities and any potential issues
  • Collaborate with other airport staff and departments to ensure seamless operations

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in maintenance or a related field
• Familiarity with airport operations and safety protocols (willing to learn)
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and maintenance equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and software for documentation purposes
• High school diploma or GED
•Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
• Capability to work in various weather conditions
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance work
• Adherence to safety standards and regulations
• Effective communication skills
• Willingness to undergo background checks and drug testing

Required IT Skills:

Not required but a plus.
