The Operations Administrator is a senior departmental leadership role responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of multiple Public Works divisions. Wage / Salary: $89,017 - $135,526
Duties / Responsibilities:

The following examples are illustrative of the work duties and responsibilities.

• Provide overall leadership, direction, and coordination for multiple Public Works operational divisions, including streets, sewer systems, parks and facilities, golf course, municipal pool, fleet maintenance, solid waste, and blight abatement.
• Plan, organize, and oversee daily operations to ensure the efficient, effective, and safe delivery of public infrastructure and essential services consistent with departmental goals and community expectations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and performance standards to ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and manage division operating budgets; oversee expenditures, identify cost efficiencies, and support long-term financial planning.
• Analyze complex operational, financial, and infrastructure issues; make sound, timely decisions that balance service levels, risk, cost, and long-term sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental, safety, and labor standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, civil engineering, construction management, business administration, or a closely related field required, master’s degree preferred.
• Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in public works, municipality or utility operations, or infrastructure management.
• Experience managing budgets, capital improvement programs, and complex operational systems or essential services.
• Demonstrated experience in one of more of the following areas: streets and transportation systems, utilities, fleet management, solid waste, parks and recreation facilities, or environmental services.
• Prior experience leading design/build projects and/or accelerated project delivery methods.
• State of Illinois Class D Driver’s License (within 30 days of hire).

Employees of the City must establish their principal residence within forty-five (45) miles of the City of Danville corporate limits within six (6) months following successful completion of their probationary period.
