Project Success of Vermilion County works to “Empower Children and Families to Reach Their Highest Potential” through afterschool and summer programs at 23 schools throughout Vermilion County.
Position Overview: Project Success is seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed Social Worker to provide social-emotional learning (SEL) programming and direct mental health services to students participating in agency programs. The Social Worker will support students through individual counseling, small group interventions, crisis response, restorative practices, and collaboration with staff and families to promote student well-being and success.
This position plays a critical role in fostering safe, supportive learning environments and ensuring students have access to appropriate mental health resources and services.
Direct Student Services
Provide Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programming at designated program sites.
Deliver individual and small-group counseling services to students with identified social, emotional, or behavioral needs.
Provide crisis intervention and short-term mental health support as needed.
Promote student awareness of mental health, wellness, coping skills, and self-care strategies.
Collaborate with Site Coordinators to identify students with the greatest need for mental health support and develop intervention plans.
Program Support & Collaboration
Work collaboratively with program staff, families, schools, and community partners to ensure holistic student support.
Connect students and families to appropriate community-based mental health and support services.
Support implementation of trauma-informed and restorative practices throughout agency programming.
Lead agency efforts related to restorative discipline policies and practices.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely records of services provided to students.
Collect and report program outcomes and service data as required.
Ensure compliance with agency policies, professional ethics, and applicable confidentiality standards.
Professional Development & Agency Support
Develop and facilitate professional development and mental health training for Project Success staff.
Attend required meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Complete all required employee training courses and comply with Project Success policies and procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Success management team.
Education & Licensure
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related mental health field required.
Current Illinois licensure as an:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
Preferred Experience & Skills
Experience working with youth in school, after-school, or community-based settings.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and SEL frameworks.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and communities.
Experience facilitating groups, workshops, and staff trainings preferred.
Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
