The General Accountant is responsible for supporting the end-to-end financial operations of our manufacturing and systems integration business. In an OEM environment with custom integration projects, this role goes beyond routine bookkeeping: it bridges standard bill-of-materials (BOM) manufacturing accounting with long-term, percentage-of-completion project accounting. The ideal candidate ensures accurate financial reporting, performs complex balance sheet reconciliations, monitors job-cost variances, and supports month-end close.
General Ledger & Month-End Close
· Prepare and post standard, recurring, and adjusting journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and fixed assets.
· Maintain the fixed asset ledger, tracking additions, disposals, depreciation, and capital expenditure (CapEx) associated with tooling, plant machinery, and test equipment.
· Support the Controller with timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end financial close schedules.
OEM & Systems Integration Cost Accounting Support
· Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, and raw material inventory movements across production lines and integration bays.
· Review job cost ledgers for custom integration projects, analyzing variances between estimated engineering hours/materials and actual job expenditures.
· Assist in revenue recognition under ASC 606, particularly regarding milestone billings, progress payments, and percentage-of-completion (PoC) integration contracts.
· Participate in periodic physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and scrap/obsolescence reserve reviews.
Accounts Payable, Billing & Cash Management
· Partner with the AP and AR teams to resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, 3-way matching for raw materials, and specialized subcontractor invoices.
· Review milestone billing milestones against contractual integration deliverables before sending invoices to clients.
· Perform weekly and monthly cash and credit card reconciliations.
Compliance, Audit & Process Improvement
· Assist external auditors during annual audits by preparing audit schedules, PBC (Provided by Client) lists, and supporting documentation.
· Support sales and use tax filings, property tax returns, and standard regulatory compliance across states where installation/integration work is executed.
· Continuously evaluate accounting workflows in the ERP system to automate recurring tasks and strengthen internal controls.
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
· Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive general accounting experience, ideally within a discrete manufacturing, OEM, or systems integration/job-shop environment.
· Accounting Standards: Solid grasp of US GAAP, standard costing concepts, and milestone/percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
· ERP Proficiency: Hands-on experience with manufacturing ERP platforms (e.g., Epicor, SAP, NetSuite, Infor, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).
· Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, XLOOKUP, data modeling).
· Analytical Mindset: Strong attention to detail with the ability to trace cost anomalies back through engineering changes, BOM deviations, or shop-floor labor hours.
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior exposure to government or industrial contractor job-cost compliance (e.g., ASC 606 contract asset/liability tracking).
· Experience with inventory cycle counting programs and standard cost rollups.
· Progress toward or attainment of CPA or CMA certification.
