A LETTER FROM VERMILION ADVANTAGE

We are monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak closely and have been in communication with the Vermilion County Health Department to get the most up to date information to our members and community.

The CDC has a lot of very useful information that you can use to prepare your place of business, school and home. We urge you to visit this site frequently as this is an ever-changing, fluid situation.

Click HERE to learn more about how to get prepared at home, work and school.

Some things you can do include:

  • Send sick employees home- If an employee reports to work and is ill, or presents symptoms of illness, send them home.
  • Practice social distancing- Put at minimum 6 ft between yourself and others. Refrain from handshakes, hugs and other close personal contact. Do not share food, drinks and other personal items that come in contact with your mouth, or nose.
  • Cancel all non-essential face to face meetings- When possible, limit exposure to the public, and cancel or reschedule meetings that cannot be virtual. If you must meet, practice social distancing and wash your hands following the meeting. Explore work from home options for those who have the capability.
  • Hand hygiene- Urge employees to wash their hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds. In the absence of soap and water an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is also effective. (Alcohol at 60% or above)
  • Clean your area- Make sure your team has the supplies to maintain a clean work space. High traffic and high touch areas should be disinfected several times a day.
  • Call ahead before going to doctor- To keep from overwhelming emergency rooms and urgent care facilities people who are exhibiting symptoms consistent with the virus are instructed to call their primary care doctor to discuss whether or not testing is necessary and to coordinate a safe entrance to and exit from the building.

As of Friday, March 13 at noon there are NO confirmed cases in Vermilion County. We will continue work closely with local health officials and share any and all recommendations and directives that are made available to the public.

Please do everything you can to personally stay safe and healthy. We all have loved ones who fall into the high risk category and that is the point of these precautionary measures.

Healthy citizens have an obligation to the community to make every attempt to help quell the spread of the virus for those with underlying health conditions and older adults.

We will get through this. In the meantime, let’s work together and continue to be calm, and above all compassionate. People are afraid and it’s our job as leaders to help keep our workforce informed with accurate, up to date information. That’s how we manage. Facts over Fear.

Please let me know if there is anything Vermilion Advantage can do to be of service moving forward.
