The following are considered as minimum qualifications.  Extensive related experience will be considered in lieu of these position requirements if they represent similar skills, knowledge, and levels of responsibility.


            Police Officer positions are filled by the Danville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners when the Mayor declares there is an available opening for such.  Candidates must be ranked on a current eligibility register (Eligibility List) for the rank of Probationary Police Officer approved by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.  To attain status on the Probationary Police Officer Eligibility Register candidates must pass physical agility, written and oral examinations conducted by the Board.  Candidates shall have the qualifications as included in the “Rules of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners as approved or revised from time to time.
