SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Leads the marketing effort for all brands across all mediums and in all formats. Recommends marketing tactics and strategies during development of strategic plans and business development plans. Creates a team environment through collaboration and mentoring while working on a wide variety of creative projects. Maintains focus on growing marketshare through creative tactics in line with the corporate mission to help families remember, celebrate, and heal.  

MAJOR DUTIES:  Major Duties support 5 brand entities:  Hall of Fame Plaques and Signs, Trigard Vaults, Trigard Memorials, Sunset Funeral Homes/Sunset Memorial Park, and Camino Del Sol Funeral Home

  • Direct supervision of marketing staff, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, and coaching; communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, appraises, and reviews employee job contributions; enforces policies and procedures; creates a team environment within the department and throughout the company
  • Oversees the design, maintenance, development, and coordination of vital core marketing materials for all brands, including identity packages (letterhead, envelopes, business cards), literature, promotional materials, and websites
  • Serves as project manager for the Marketing department; conducts project intake and needs assessments; determines priorities and timeline for completion; allocates resources (personnel and budgetary); gathers consensus and approval
  • Accomplishes marketing objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, marketing, branding, public relations, web, social media, video production, and trade show programs.
  • Forms relationships with Trigard customers/dealers; directly communicates with customers to assess their marketing needs through intake process; makes recommendations; presents solutions; gathers final approval; coordinates production of materials
  • Directs the development of custom marketing materials for customers, including posters, wall displays, rotating displays, catalogs, and digital materials
  • Contributes marketing information and recommendations to strategic plans and business development plans
  • Establishes and enforces internal production flow for all projects; guides staff through the process; tracks status of all ongoing projects to their completion; facilitates constant, open communication with other managers, staff members, and stakeholders
  • Determines annual advertising placements in trade publications for multiple brands; negotiates contracts and insertion orders; sets calendar of advertising; places final art with publishers; approves invoices for payment
  • Leads corporate presence at national conventions; determines priorities with ownership and Negotiates contracts with outside vendors, agencies, printers, etc.; develops tactics for five stages of exhibiting (attracting, entering, during, exiting, extending); ensures appearance and flow of booth at conventions; attends national conventions to meet customers, educate customers, and network; coordinates with Project Manager for booth selection and logistics; assists with packing and on-site set-up
  • Leads event management for Trigard Vault Dealer Convention; determines priorities and message with ownership and stakeholders; develops communications plan; assists in development of educational presentations; ensures consistent messaging across the entire event; coordinates with Project Manager for location and logistics; assists with packing and set-up of all activities
  • Ensures consistent messaging, tone, and written style in all communications; supervises ghost written articles for industry publications and public relations efforts; reports earned media value
  • Enforces clearly defined brand standards for multiple business entities to ensure creative continuity across all mediums
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

 

MINOR DUTIES:

  • Commits to ongoing professional development; maintains knowledge by attending workshops, webinars, and seminars; reviews professional publications and news sources; develops and maintains a network of marketing professionals
  • Acquires deathcare industry knowledge; identifies trends and competitors; forms relationships with other industry professionals; remains current by reviewing industry publications and news sources
  • Prepares and presents departmental monthly reports for management and ownership

 

 

Qualifications: 

·         Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or other relevant field

·         Superior software skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet navigation

·         Microsoft Windows proficiency; or Mac OS proficiency plus dedication to learning Windows environment

·         Superior skills as a project manager for projects including communication, graphic design, layout and composition, creative services, pre-press, desktop publishing, and photo editing

·         Strong customer focus, creativity, flexibility, attention to detail, organizational skills, and a “get it done” attitude

·         Deadline-oriented; handles constructive criticism easily; ability to juggle multiple concurrent deadlines

·         Proficiency with a variety of common office equipment, including calculator, copy machine, and fax machine

·         Experience with template-driven web software, such as WordPress or Constant Contact

·         Corporate social media marketing experience with proven results

·         Proven record of tracking marketing results, ROI calculation, and executing tactics generated from strategic marketing plans

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Experience coordinating creative efforts with outside advertising and video production agencies
