The Lube Tech reports to the Maintenance Team Leader and is responsible for maintaining oil and coolant levels in the machines as well as providing preventative maintenance.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Lube related preventative maintenance
  • Maintaining oil/coolant levels in machines
  • Collecting oil samples

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Plant walk-through to top off machine oil and coolants
  • Respond to operator requests for oil fills
  • Routine checks for oil leaks and needed repairs pertaining to oil/coolant
  • Preventative maintenance such as changing out fluids, filters and clearing hydraulic units
  • Track conductivity and DI water; check PH levels of water and adjust accordingly
  • Track inventory of oil room
  • Operate and maintain vacuum truck and oil truck
  • Track and log oil amounts used in each machine
  • Collect oil samples and send out for contamination check
  • Document completed work orders and daily log of work

  • Effectively administers preventative maintenance to reduce future issues  
  • Responds to oil/coolant needs quickly and efficiently to keep machines running

Essential Functions

  • Proficient in English Language
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Walking in a manufacturing setting with multiple stairs and inclines  
  • Authorized to operate oil/vacuum truck




  • Education/Credentials/Certifications
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Must be authorized to operate oil and vacuum truck
  • Length of Experience
    • At least one year of experience servicing heavy equipment
    • Previous lube and coolant experience preferred  
    • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Knowledge of oil types
    • Mechanically inclined with an understanding of hydraulics
    • Understanding of machine operation
    • Understanding of lockout/tag out and other safety measures
    • Ability to prioritize and multitask
    • Excellent communication ability
    • Basic mathematical ability
    • Excellent reasoning and problem solving ability
    • Ability to follow step-by-step instructions
    • Ability to perform repetitive work
    • Welding knowledge is a plus
