The City of Danville is seeking a well-organized and skilled candidate who can function in a fast-paced office setting. This position reports to the Division Supervisor and is responsible for secretarial, public interaction, and data entry duties related to the function of the Engineering and Grants & Planning Divisions.
Required Skills: Employees must possess basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, Excel and Access. Employee must be able to type 40 words per minute without errors. Employee must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Employee must be proficient in spelling, sentence structure and punctuation. Employee must have demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and to develop file management systems for both electronic and hard copy filing. Employee must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver work product on a daily basis. Employee must present a professional image when greeting the public in person or on the telephone. Employee must demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to customers with varied income and educational levels.

Qualifications: The following are considered minimum qualifications. Extensive related experience will be considered in lieu of these position requirements if they represent similar skills, knowledge, and levels of responsibility. Employee must hold a high school diploma, or GED, and have relevant knowledge and expertise in related field. Certifications and/or specialized training in secretarial and office management equivalent to one year of college preferred. Candidates for this position should have one to two years of experience in this field or closely related work.

Residency: An employee of the City who successfully completes his or her probationary period of employment shall then have a period of 6 months to establish residence within the corporate limits of the City.
