Summary Performs safety and health activities in industrial plants or at environmental sites to evaluate and control environmental hazards by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Tests noise levels and measures air quality.
Maintains and calibrates monitoring instruments.
Cleans and inspects respirators.
Coordinates distribution of respirators, including conducting respirator fit tests.
Trains forklift operators to qualify for certification.
Trains employees and maintains training records on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with regulations.
Oversees field activities and monitors for health and safety violations.
Enforces use of safety equipment.
Monitors decontamination of personnel leaving hazardous work zones.
Issues and monitors hot work permits, confined space entries, and lockout/tag out permits.
Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports.
Identifies potential causes for accidents and recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness.
Conducts plant inspections to identify potential health, safety, or environmental non-compliance issues.
Associate's degree or equivalent from college or technical school; or six months to one year related work experience/training; or combination of education and experience. Must have high school diploma or GED.
Must pass drug screening prior to employment.
