Position Summary: The general purpose of this position and/or contribution to the department is the management and supervision of the Finance department and fiscal affairs of the City including, but not limited to, the preparation of the City budget and tax levy. The Comptroller controls and supervises the collection and posting of all revenues and other money due the City, payment of all expenditures, auditing of City funds and accounts, and such other duties as assigned by the Mayor.
Position Oversees/Supervises: Finance Department personnel including the Finance Manager, Payroll & Personnel Manager, Accounts Receivable Administrator, Accounts Payable Administrator, Program Support Specialist, and Risk Manager.
The City Comptroller shall be an officer of the City appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.
Qualifications: The following are considered as minimum qualifications. Extensive related experience will be considered in lieu of these position requirements if they represent similar skills, knowledge, and levels of responsibility.
- Education: Employee must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Business Management, or in a closely related field. CPA preferred.
- Experience: Employee must have five years of like experience and/or advanced training, plus two years of supervisory experience in this field or a closely related field preferred.
