Sleepy Creek Vineyards is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our detail-oriented, fast-paced team. This position will have hands-on experience with a working winery's day-to-day operations in a fun, hardworking environment.  Assist in managing the Tasting Room team.  Duties will cover all aspects of winery operations, sales, and supervision of staff. We are looking for someone who is motivated, reliable, and has a positive attitude. We value energetic and enthusiastic excellent customer service skills that result in increased sales and repeat customers by focusing on creating a comfortable, positive, memorable and entertaining experience for guests.


  • Two-year college degree a plus.
  • 1+ year of retail experience a plus.
  • Prior management skills a plus.
  • Must love engaging people.
  • A friendly and outgoing personality, self-motivated, capable of multitasking and working without supervision.
  • Experience with customer service skill preferably in food\beverage services, sales/retail, hospitality or a tourism-related business.
  • Experience in wine knowledge a plus but not necessary.  However, applicant must have an interest and\or be willing to learn about wine and develop wine appreciation. 
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to converse with individuals as well as speak in front of groups.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age(of legal drinking age).
  • Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business, including, events, holidays, evenings and weekends.
  • Interpersonal awareness, relationship and conflict management and influencing skills.
  • Accuracy with processing online wine orders, and reservations.
  • Availability to open and close the Winery 4+ times per week. 
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to converse with individuals as well as speak in front of groups.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Event planning, social media knowledge, marketing and computer skills are a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task.


  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds repeatedly (a case of wine).
  • Ability to continuously stand/walk; frequently push/pull; occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/reach above shoulders/kneel; climb a ladder.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively stock wine, set-up and break down procedures, equipment, etc., and able to utilize dolly cart.


  • Greets all visitors of Sleepy Creek Vineyards, pours wines for tastings, discusses wine and responds to customer questions as appropriate.
  • Assist with daily Tasting Room Staff.
  • Assist with training new employees.
  • In charge of monthly staff schedule through When I Work.
  • Ensure Daily Closing Reports are processed correctly by Tasting Room Staff.
  • File and organizing files.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies for Tasting Room, office and events
  • Updating binders with accurate and most up-to-date information. 
  • Fill-In behind the bar when needed.
  • Help organize and make things aesthetically neat and clean in tasting room and office.
  • Add creativeness to the tasting room and to events.
  • Make gift baskets for holidays and customized baskets.
  • Apprise the owners of the day, calls, etc.
  • Accuracy with processing online wine orders, and reservations.
  • Update Constant Contacts from the sign-up sheets.
  • Work in accordance with the owners to create and set up new events.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.
