In 2002, the Economic Development Corporation and the Danville Chamber of Commerce merged into the organization we now know as Vermilion Advantage. Combining what was then 125 years of experience and dedication to Vermilion County, Vermilion Advantage is working for businesses, large & small, to enhance all aspects of community living – quality of life, successful business and retail climate and the general welfare of Vermilion County’s residents. Investing in our future is important to everyone for the overall goal, success and vision for Vermilion County.  Vermilion Advantage, through membership value, provides strategic leadership on critical business issues - leading economic & workforce development, anticipating and responding to members’ needs, addressing quality of life issues and providing a network of information & business contacts – advocating the pursuit of opportunities to strengthen the local economy and business environment.

Non-Profit - Our staff helps retain local area businesses and recruits new companies, thereby giving local non-profits a larger audience for their cause.  Assistance with grant writing is also available.

County-wide Businesses – Vermilion Advantage keeps on top of all current legislation relating to everything from tax incentives to changes in tax laws that affect our area.  Data is kept and made available on many aspects of our community including Wage & Benefit reports; Sites & Facilities information; Newcomer packets; Utility information; Quarterly Retail Sales information; Legislative issues; Job statistics; Cost of living; Labor data; and more.

Community Development – New business recruitments; Retail Marketing – Think Vermilion County First Campaign; Local Product Promotion (Consumer Products); Image Promotion; Infrastructure development; Collection of Job Projection Data - compared to National and State Trends; and more.

Retention – Vermilion Advantage works with local industries to ensure that what they need to stay in the county or enlarge their business is available. Whether that be finding the dollars necessary for expansion or finding a larger (or smaller) site for their operation.

Growth – Vermilion Advantage works with new companies seeking to relocate or add a facility. Existing properties are shown, along with all data necessary for the firm to make the decision to move their operation to Vermilion County.

Networking is a very important aspect of conducting business.  We provide many outlets to make contact with prospective customers and learn more about how your business can do business with other local companies, such as Safety and Personnel Issues; Member Round Table Luncheons; Mayors’ Council; Inter-Governmental Council; and the Leadership Tomorrow Program.

Workforce Development, Career Awareness & Educational Programs – Community Businesses & Educators working to create a prepared workforce.  Education Programs: Thousands of students in the area are sponsored by a group of local businesses to ensure that our area retains a qualified workforce and offers a large range of programs to encourage students to stay in school and get the necessary training and information needed in order to become a productive part of the workforce; and more!.  Career Awareness: Support of and job postings on the Vermilion County Job Board; Monthly feature articles in the Vermilion Advantage Newsletter published as part of the Commercial-News; and more!
