Cycles Plus is growing the cycling culture in Danville by offering group rides - The weekend rides are ready!  Saturday, our In-Town Ride starts at 9AM from Cycles Plus!  Sunday is our county ride.  It will take place at 9AM.  Please meet in the parking lot just west of the bridge by Kickapoo Landing. Historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open Sundays through October 26 - The Vermilion County Museum Society announces that the historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open on Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30PM beginning May 4 through October 26, 2014. Visit the home on the first Sunday of each month to meet Melissa Beckwith Lamon and her brother Hiram Beckwith, portrayed by Becky and Alan Woodrum, as you tour the site.

Danville Light Opera presents “Guys and Dolls” at Danville High School October Friday, Saturday & Sunday – (202 E. The Haunted Hideaway Open - (1201 E. 12th St., Georgetown) Open 6-10PM.  According to the Illinois State Inspector, "The Haunted Hideaway” is the biggest haunted attraction within 100 miles."  Three haunts are offered each night with special after-hour investigations; $15 general admission.

Gospel Sing at Bismarck First Church of Christ – (100 Maiden Lane, Bismarck) This event will feature Bob & Marsha Grider, 6:30-9PM.  Everyone is welcome.

The Westville Lions Club K9 Walk starting at Zamberletti Park – Today is Westville Lion’s Club’s 3rd Annual Fall Frenzy.  We’ll begin with our inaugural K9 Walk at 10AM (registration starting at 9AM).  Proceeds going to the Leaderdog for the Blind organization.

Memorial Walk Against Domestic Violence starting at Crossroads Christian Church – (3613 N. Vermilion Street, Danville) A walk and balloon release dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives to domestic violence, 10AM-Noon.  The walk will begin at the Crossroads Christian Church and will move up Vermilion Street to the Sunset Memorial Park where the balloon release will take place, and then return to the church.  If you would like more info, please contact 217-446-1217 ext. 222.

Community Safety Fair at the Georgetown Library – (102 W. West Street, Georgetown) This annual event will feature the Georgetown Fire Dept. (fire safety), Georgetown Lions Club (bicycle safety), Georgetown Masonic Lodge (children’s ID program), Georgetown Ambulance Service, Georgetown Police Department and Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department (D.A.R.E.), 10AM-Noon.  The event will have door prizes which include bicycles and McDonald’s gift cards, sponsored by the First National Bank in Georgetown and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 203.  The Georgetown Ladies Community Club will sponsor a Halloween Costume Contest for children under age 5, ages 6-8, and ages 9-11.  The categories being judged are: scariest, most original, and a book character.  Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each age category.  Wear your costumes and come join in the fun!

Haunted Happenings at Kennekuk County Park – Fun for the whole family! Annual Ridge Farm Fire Dept. Ghost Rally – (16 W. Woodyard Avenue, Ridge Farm) We hope everyone is getting excited about this year’s ghost rally!  At request, we have gone back to our old ways and added riddles, twists and turns back into our story, 7:30-9PM.  We hope to see all of you out there – without your support, the rally would not be possible!

Zombie Survival 5K Run at Kickapoo State Park – The Danville Jaycees are hosting the Zombie Survival 5K Run. You can be a runner, or you can be a Zombie.  There will be music and food.  Runners will be in groups of 5-8 people.  Registration will begin at 10AM for zombies and 11AM for runners. The run will begin at Noon.  Post-race party will begin about 4PM and feature hayrides, hot chocolate and smores for $10/person.  All runners will receive a prize for crossing the finish line.
