Memorial Day 5K Run & Walk at the Danville VA – (1900 E. Main St., Danville) The Kennekuk Road Runners are hosting the 31st Annual Memorial Day 5K Run and Walk with all proceeds benefiting the veterans at the Danville VA.  Race day registration is $20 and will run from 7:30-8:30AM with race at 9AM.  For more info, contact race director Dave King at 217-443-0842 or email krr@kennekuk.com.

The Little Lorraine Theatre presents "American Sniper" this Friday, Saturday & Sunday - (324 E. Main St., Hoopeston) U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission – protect his comrades – to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history.  His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents.  Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq.  However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.  Sunday’s showings are at 2:00PM and 4:30PM.  All movies are a free-will donation with all proceeds going to the Save the Lorraine Foundation.

Memorial Day Street Dance & Fish Fry hosted by Catlin American Legion Post 776 – (104 Commercial St., Catlin) Come and join us for some great music, food, fun and to celebrate the brave men and women who died for our great country. We will have fish, coleslaw and baked beans for $6, food starting at 5:30PM.  Hillbilly Deluxe takes the stage from 7:30-10:00PM.

Saturday:

The Downtown Danville Farmers Market Kickoff – Farmer’s Markets will continue throughout the summer every Wed. and Sat. morning from 8AM-1PM on the Danville Public Library lawn.  This Saturday, vendors will offer plants, baked goods, honey, cheese, hand-made gift items, and whatever early Spring crops are ready for harvest.  Two food vendors have signed up as well.  From 9AM until 1PM, the following non-profit groups will share information about their activities: “I Sing the Body Electric”, March Against Monsanto, and Vermilion County Amateur Radio Association.  The Children’s Dept. and Master Gardeners will offer an Heirloom Seed Swap.  And, to get people moving, we’ll have a lesson in Line Dancing from 10 to 11AM.

Cycles Plus Ride - (12 W. Woodbury St., Danville) Cycles Plus continues to do group rides every Wednesday at 5:30PM and Saturday at 8:00AM.  Make sure to check our Facebook page for updated ride times and start locations.  Cycles Plus will be closed on Memorial Day, but we will still be open all weekend (Saturday 9AM-2PM and Sunday Noon-4PM).  SIGN UP for the Kickapoo Rail Trail Duathlon!  Net proceeds from the Duathlon will go directly to the Kickapoo Rail Trail Project, a 24.5-mile cycling and pedestrian path stretching from Kickapoo State Park to Urbana!  There are levels to choose from to compete!  Sign up at www.active.com and search "Kickapoo Rail Trail"!  Normally, store hours are M-F 10AM-6PM; Sat. 9AM-2PM, and Sun. Noon-4PM.  Happy riding!

DACC 9th Annual Car & Truck Show – (2000 E. Main St., Danville) The DACC Technology Division will host this year’s Annual Open House and Car & Truck Show in the Technology Center parking lot from 9AM-3PM.  Registration runs from 9-11AM for a fee of $10.  Trophies will be awarded at 3PM.  The show is open to all makes and models of cars and trucks and will be held rain or shine.  There will be music, food and prizes.  For more info, please contact Nathan Smoot at 217-443-8895 or smoot@dacc.edu.

Knights of Columbus Vendor and Craft Fair May 23 - (310 Bryan Ave., Danville) The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Craft Fair from 9AM to 3PM.  All profits will go to the Knights of Columbus Intellectual Disabilities Fund Drive, better known as the K of C Tootsie Roll Fund Drive.  Please come and support this event for a great cause.

Main St., Hoopeston) U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission – protect his comrades – to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history.  His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents.  Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq.  However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.  Saturday’s showings are at 4:30PM and 7PM.  All movies are a free-will donation with all proceeds going to the Save the Lorraine Foundation.
