The Walldogs return to this area to paint a mural in Ridge Farm/Ice Cream Social a group of 5 artists return to this area to paint a mural in Ridge Farm at IL Rt. 1 and Woodyard, where a veterans memorial will be located.  The artists arrived on Wed. and are still painting!  On Sunday, there will be an ice cream social at the site from 2-4PM.

Historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open Sundays through October 26 - The Vermilion County Museum Society announces that the historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open on Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30PM beginning May 4 through October 26, 2014. Visit the home on the first Sunday of each month to meet Melissa Beckwith Lamon and her brother Hiram Beckwith, portrayed by Becky and Alan Woodrum, as you tour the site.

Dustbowl Basketball Tournament July 20-26 at the Palmer Arena – (100 W. Main St., Danville) Danville’s premier summer basketball tournament brings in teams from across the Midwest each year to compete for the Dustbowl title!  Divisions include middle school, girls high school, boys high school, and adult.  Free admission; food vendors.  On Sunday, all championship games will be played starting at 2PM.  There will be a dunk contest and 3-point shootout finals.  The Men’s Championship Game will wrap up the events and is scheduled to take place at 7PM on Sunday night.  For more info, contact Jason Henton at hentonsports@gmail.com or 217-260-6244.

DLO Musical Theatre presents “Once on this Island Jr.” on Friday, Saturday & Sunday at DACC Bremer Auditorium – (2000 E. Downtown Danville Farmers’ Market at Danville Public Library - Find home-grown groceries, baked from scratch items, and handmade goods at this year’s farmer’s market which runs from May 17-October 4 every Tuesday from 2-7PM and Saturday 8AM-1PM.  This week’s Farmers’ Market is hosted by Osborne Books for promoting literacy. There will be music by the Sweet Adeline’s beginning at 10AM.  Animals (goats) also on the lawn.

The Vermilion County Republican Women’s Club will be presenting an Americanism program at the Danville Public Library – U.S. Constitution Basic Lesson & display located inside the Library in front of the Children’s Dept. – Free learning aids for all ages from 9AM-Noon.  Members will also read books to children.  Visit their new website at www.vcrwc.org.

Central Illiana Outdoor Expo at the Palmer Arena Saturday & Sunday – (100 W. Main St., Danville) A diverse collection of outdoor sports related exhibitors will be on hand along with seminars and free autograph signings with personalities from programs featured on the Outdoor Channel, the Sportsman Channel, and the Pursuit Channel, 9AM-5PM. Historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open Sundays through October 26 - The Vermilion County Museum Society announces that the historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open on Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30PM beginning May 4 through October 26, 2014. Visit the home on the first Sunday of each month to meet Melissa Beckwith Lamon and her brother Hiram Beckwith, portrayed by Becky and Alan Woodrum, as you tour the site.

Doc Ashton & the Root Canals kick off Summer Jazz at Lincoln Park – this 9-piece band will feature jazz, blues, pop and rock from the 50’s to the present starting at 7PM.  Free!  Refreshments may be served, so come out and have a great night of music and treats!
