Historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open Sundays through October 26 - The Vermilion County Museum Society announces that the historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open on Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30PM beginning May 4 through October 26, 2014. Visit the home on the first Sunday of each month to meet Melissa Beckwith Lamon and her brother Hiram Beckwith, portrayed by Becky and Alan Woodrum, as you tour the site.

Bingo at the VFW Post 728 - (8 Pine St., Danville) Every Sunday at 2PM

Music at Kickapoo Landing presents "Sing-Along with Hillbilly Valentine" - Music from 2-4PM. Downtown Danville Farmers’ Market at Danville Public Library - Find home-grown groceries, baked from scratch items, and handmade goods at this year’s farmer’s market which runs from May 17-October 4 every Tuesday from 2-7PM and Saturday 8AM-1PM.  This Saturday’s Farmers’ Market is hosted by Illiana Alzheimer’s Alliance and Curves. Music by Steve Rodman.

2nd Annual MileyK5K FUN RUN/WALK starting at Bismarck-Henning High School - Miley Reed had a passion for life unlike most 22 year olds.  She LOVED like no other. She loved Jesus, her family, her friends, children, teaching, being crafty, ranch dressing, country music, cowgirl boots, anything Disney Princess, laughing, and especially HUGGING!  She made everything fun!  So in Miley's honor, we are planning the second annual MileyK5K FUN RUN/WALK! The MileyK5k is going to be a wonderful time for walkers, runners, grownups and kids of all ages.  All proceeds will go to benefit the Miley Reed Memorial Fund.  This fund will help give scholarships to education majors as well as help with other area children’s charities.  Adult registration fee is $20; Children 8 and under are free with a participating.  Registration and packet pick up will be at B-HHS Friday night from 5-7PM and Saturday morning 8-9AM.  The race starts at 9AM.  Parking at BHHS or church across the street if needed!

Cycles Plus is growing the cycling culture in Danville by offering group rides multiple times every weekend - Cycles Plus is building the cycling culture in our area! Wool-Dyeing Demonstration at Forest Glen Preserve – Free admission! The event is hosted by the Champaign-Urbana Spinners and Weavers, 10AM-3PM.  The artists will gather at the Pioneer Homestead Cabin to demonstrate the art of dyeing wool and other fibers.  The dyes used will be natural, coming from flowers, bark, nuts and other sources.  Call 217-662-2142 for more info.

“Vettes for Vets” Car Show at the VA Illiana Hospital – (1900 E. Main St., Danville) Danville and the Corvette Cruisers of Illinois will be hosting a car show, 11AM-3PM.  Donation items needed for veterans.  Follow Corvette Cruisers of Illinois on Facebook or call 217-443-5773 for a list of donation items needed.  Show to be held at the VA – Building 101.  Donation request of $10 per car entered in show.  Free to the public.

5th Annual “Unity in the Community” March for Academic Excellence starting at Dollar General on Griffin and ending at Carver Park with a Celebration -  This march stresses the importance of parents and others being involved with children’s education.  The March will start at 1PM at The Dollar General on Griffin Street and proceed to Carver Park for a celebration by traveling west on Williams, then south on Collett and west on Seminary.  At the park, there will be music and live entertainment, a back-to-school rally, free hotdogs, and giveaways.  Sponsored by the Danville Caucus.
