Bumper Cars on Ice at the Palmer Arena – (100 W. “Light Up McFerren Park” Holiday Light Show - New this year, Hoopeston’s McFerren Park will be lit up with light displays and decorations nightly through January 4.  Free admission.

Holiday Lights at Bunker Hill Historic Area at Kennekuk County Park - See beautifully decorated historic buildings at Kennekuk County Park. Lights will be turned on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through December 28 from 5PM-8PM.

Danville Public Library presents “The Nightmare Before Christmas” – (319 N. Vermilion St., Danville) This month’s free kid’s movie features the animated 1993 story about Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, who is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween, 1PM.  One day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bat, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween Town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween – but alas, they can’t get it quite right.  For kids ages 11 and under.  All kids under age 8 must be with an adult (18 or older).  No teens or adults without a child under the age of 8 will be allowed.

Jackson St., Danville) Our weekly "Big Fish & All the Trimmings" from 5-8PM.  Specializing in Tilapia and Catfish and new addition of Frog Legs, along with full menu items to complete your dinner experience.  Hop on over & Hook a Big One - Oh, what a catch!  Public invited.

Chance Kistler (leukemia) Chicken & Noodle Dinner Benefit at Catlin American Legion – Chance is a Jamaica high school student recently diagnosed with leukemia. He is at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis where he will remain for treatments for the next 6 months.  The benefit is homemade chicken & noodles being served from 5-8PM for donation only.  All proceeds go directly to the Kistler family.

“Kids’ Christmas Weekend” at The Little Lorraine Theatre – (East Main Street, Hoopeston) We picked out some of the best Christmas movies to get your little ones in the Christmas spirit.  Watching movies on the TV at home is boring, come see us at the Little Lorraine and make an event out of it!  We will have the sweets stocked and the popcorn hot and fresh.  Sunday’s movie is The Polar Express at 3:30PM.  Come early on Sunday and kids can meet Santa from Noon-2PM!  All movies are a free will donation with all proceeds going to The Save the Lorraine Foundation.  Concessions will be available!

The Vermilion County Conservation District annual Holiday Open House in the Bunker Hill Historic Area - The Vermilion County Conservation District will be hosting their annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 14, 2-6PM in the Bunker Hill Historic Area, Kennekuk County Park.  All buildings will be decked out and lit for the holidays with special activities planned during these hours.  Free, public event.

Darin Troglia Christmas Concert at Trinity United Church of Christ – (311 E. Moses Ave., Westville) Concert at 3PM.  Donations of canned goods will be accepted.

Danville Symphony Orchestra Presents “Joyful Sounds” – (DHS, Dick Van Dyke Auditorium, 202 E. Muncie Baptist Church Outdoor Live Nativity: One Evening Only - Drive through the transformed parking lot to observe the serene backdrop featuring Joseph, Mary, Jesus, the 3 Wise men, an Angel and the shepherds with an array of live animals, 4-8PM.  Park north of the church to visit our petting zoo and join us inside for lasagna dinner, a children’s craft, and an inspiring short film viewing.  No charge, but donations are welcome.

Living Christmas Tree Program at the Catlin Church of Christ Saturday and Sunday – (715 W. Vermilion St., Catlin) Share in the joy of the Christmas season as the Catlin Church of Christ lights up the 21 foot tree filled with over 50 singers, 6PM Sunday.  Tickets will specify seating, so get your tickets early.  Suggested donation of $5 (kids 12 and under are free) will benefit children’s programming at the Danville Women’s Shelter.
