Schlarman Academy Annual Spaghetti Dinner – (1307 N. Walnut St., Danville) Schlarman Academy will host its Annual Spaghetti Dinner at the South Campus Gym, 11AM-6PM.  Sauce created by the Sermersheim family.  Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and your choice of coffee/tea.  Adults $7, children $4, and children under 6 eat free.  Tickets are available to buy in advance at both North and South Schlarman Academy campuses.  Carry-outs are available, as well as quarts of sauce for $5.

Red Mask Players present “The Miracle Worker” Friday, Saturday and Sunday & also next weekend – (Kathryn Randolph Theater, 601 N. Vermilion St., Danville) Show at 2PM.  Immortalized on stage and screen by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, this classic tells the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind and mute Helen Keller.  The Miracle Worker dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher and her charge. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate, Helen is violent, spoiled, almost sub-human and treated by her family as such.  Only Annie realizes that there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark, tortured silence.  With scenes of intense physical and emotional dynamism, Annie’s success with Helen finally comes with the utterance of a single, glorious word: “water.”  Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors age 60 and over, and $10 for students.  Season memberships for groups (6 tickets per show) are $180.  For more info, call 217-442-5858.

Bike and Wine Ride with Cycles Plus – (12 W. Woodbury St., Danville) We will ride from Cycles Plus through Kickapoo State Park with a stop in Oakwood then continue on to Sleepy Creek Vineyards for a stop to sample wines and enjoy great company, 10AM-2PM!  Helmets are required for all Cycles Plus rides.  The ride is free!  Round trip = 26 miles.  For more info, contact 217-474-5866. Vermilion County Health Department adult seasonal flu clinic (200 South College Street, Danville) A walk-in flu clinic for those 19 years old and up, 8:30AM-3:30PM.  Cost is $35.  The health dept. will bill Medicare, Medicaid, State Employees’ employers, and private insurance plans for adult flu shots.  Flu vaccinations for children between the ages of six months and 18 years old can be scheduled through the health dept.’s Immunization division by calling 217-431-2662, ext. 249.  Additional flu clinics will be held throughout November.  Call 217-431-2662 or check the website at www.vchd.org for dates and times.

Freeky Creek Short Film Festival Friday (Saturday sold out) – (Located 3.5 miles south of Oakwood) It’s our favorite time of year! The film festival showcases creepy, scary and sometimes funny films, 8:30-10:30PM.  Some are produced by local filmmakers but many are national and international fame.  Language, adult themes and who knows requires a mature audience with a sense of humor.  Come join us in costume if you want.  We will be presenting lots of Tricks and Treats for those who dare to dress up.  Stick around and vote for your favorites too. $10 advanced purchase tickets.

Cycles Plus is growing the cycling culture in Danville by offering group rides - The weekend rides are ready!  Saturday, our In-Town Ride starts at 9AM from Cycles Plus!  Sunday is our county ride.  It will take place at 9AM.  Please meet in the parking lot just west of the bridge by Kickapoo Landing. Historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open Sundays through October 26 - The Vermilion County Museum Society announces that the historic Lamon House located in Lincoln Park will be open on Sundays from 1:30 to 4:30PM beginning May 4 through October 26, 2014. Visit the home on the first Sunday of each month to meet Melissa Beckwith Lamon and her brother Hiram Beckwith, portrayed by Becky and Alan Woodrum, as you tour the site.

The Haunted Hideaway Open - (1201 E. 12th St., Georgetown) Open 6-10PM.  According to the Illinois State Inspector, "The Haunted Hideaway” is the biggest haunted attraction within 100 miles."  Three haunts are offered each night with special after-hour investigations; $15 general admission.
