World War II Remembrance Day at Kennekuk County Park Saturday & Sunday – (22296 Henning Rd., Danville) Saturday 10AM-5PM; Sunday 10AM-3PM  Saturday events include:  Flag ceremony, obstacle course/training demo, USO show, public battle, & “History of the USO”.  Sunday events include: “History of the USO” & public battle.  Admission is Free.

Sleepy Creek Vineyard – (Located 3.5 miles south of Oakwood) Winery Open Noon-6PM Bloody Sunday bar – create your own Winey Mary/Bloody Mary-style concoction with a wide selection of ingredients like fresh celery, pickles, olive, tomato juice, Tabasco, pepper, bloody Mary mix, & more!

Garden Party at Two’s Company Antiques Saturday & Sunday – (2 Chestnut St., Danville) Saturday 10AM-3PM; Sunday 1-4PM.  Wear your favorite garden party hat & we will pick our 3 favorites.  Winners will receive a $20 gift card.  Refreshments will be served.

The Lamon House – Open for the Season – (Lincoln Park, Danville) On the first Sunday of the month Melissa Beckwith & her brother Hiram Beckwith (portrayed by Becky & Alan Woodrum) will give a historical tour of the home with information on customs & traditions of the Victorian era; 1:30-4:30PM. The Lamon House is open each Sunday from the first Sunday in May until the last Sunday in October.

Danville Light Opera Presents “Little Shop of Horrors” Saturday & Sunday – (DACC Bremer Center, 2000 E Main, Danville) DLO presents a deviously delicious Broadway & Hollywood sci-fi smash musical rated PG (language, comic violence, implied domestic violence).  Show Times: Saturday 7:30PM; Sunday 2PM. Danville Farmers Market is Open! – The Farmers’ Market will get an early start this year at Fischer Theater “Stage Presents.” On Saturdays through May 7, craft & bake vendors will have goods to sell from 10AM-2PM.  The outdoor market will open outside Danville Public Library on Saturday, May 14.  Farmers’ Market at the Fischer is free to the vendor-though a donation to Fischer is requested & is open to registered Farmers Market vendors only.  Registration packets may be obtained at the Danville Public Library checkout desk.

Main St., Danville) This event will raise funds for “4 Paws for Ability”, an organization that places service dogs with those with disabilities.  Spaghetti dinner 5-7PM; 50/50 Raffle drawing 9PM.  Menu: spaghetti with/without meat & sauce, bread & butter, parmesan cheese, dessert, tea or lemonade for a Goodwill donation.  Other activities include: raffles, silent auction, grab bags for kids, spin the wheel, music & entertainment.

Hoopeston Women Making a Difference Fundraiser Dinner – (Hoopeston American Legion, 502 E. Penn St., Hoopeston) This fundraiser dinner includes Italian Beef, cheesy potatoes, green beans & a dessert; 5-8PM.  Cost is $8.50 for dine in or carry out.

“#ChanceStrong: Q for a Cause” Fundraiser at Catlin American Legion – (104 Commercial St., Catlin) This event will raise support to help with medical care for Chance Kistler, a Jamaica high school sophomore, currently battling leukemia.  A pulled pork dinner will be served & a 50/50 Raffle will be held; 5-9PM.

Gao Grotto Dinner – (2400 Denmark Rd., Danville) 5:30-7:30PM Hamburger, Tenderloin, or Chicken strip dinners with choice of 2 sides from coleslaw, fries, onion rings, or baked beans for $7.  All are welcome to our Public events!

Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Reception at  Harrison Park Clubhouse – (1300 W. Voorhees, Danville)  Please join the Vermilion County Fair & City of Danville to honor Abby Foster, the reigning Miss Illinois County Fair Queen; 2-4PM.  Abby is the first Vermilion County Fair Queen to win the state title since 1976.  The reception begins at 2PM with a presentation from Mayor Scott Eisenhauer at 3PM

The Little Lorraine Theater Presents “The Revenant” All Weekend – (324 E. Main, Hoopeston) Shows are: Friday 7PM; Saturday 4PM & 7PM; Sunday 2PM & 5PM.  A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820’s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.  All movies are free-will donation with all proceeds going to the Save the Lorraine Foundation.

GRF Project Success Drama Club presents “The Bold, The Young & The Murdered” Saturday & Sunday – (Washington Gym, Georgetown) The Georgetown-Ridge Farm Project Success Drama Club will be performing this play Saturday 6PM & Sunday 3PM.  Admission: 12 years or older $4, 6-12 years $2, 5 years & under Free.  Concession snacks will be available for purchase.  All proceeds donated to the GRF Miss Piggy Fund.
