Sunday:

27th Annual Farm Toy Show at Danville Area Community College – (2000 E. Main St., Danville) The DACC Ag Club will sponsor their 27th Annual Farm Toy Show in the Mary Miller Gym this Sunday from 9AM-3PM.  The show will consist of farm toys in a variety of sizes of reproduction.  Scale models as small as 1/64th the actual size will be shown.  The general public will be given the opportunity to buy, sell or trade toys with area collectors and dealers.  There will be door prize drawings approximately every half hour and at 1:30PM a kiddie tractor pull for ages 3-10 years old will be conducted.  A concession stand will be available.  Admission is $2 for adults and free for those age 11 and under.  Proceeds will go to the Ag Club Activity Fund and the Annual Ag Day Fund.  For more info or to plan an exhibit, call Craig Potter at 217-443-8805.

35th Annual Bridal Shower & Prom Preview at the Village Mall – (2917 N. Rededication of Ridgeview Baptist Church – (3838 N. Vermilion, Danville) The church is moving back into their remodeled facility after a fire destroyed their sanctuary in 2013.  Rededication/community thanksgiving service at 3PM.

The Women’s Care Clinic of Danville will host a Community Prayer Service in recognition of Sanctity of Life Sunday at Executive Plaza – (3550 N. Vermilion, Danville) The event will honor the lives lost to abortion in the years since the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Monday

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Sunday & Monday – Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations will continue on Monday morning, beginning with a motorcade/parade.  The line-up for the motorcade/parade will begin at 10AM at the corner of Main and Logan Streets, and the procession will start at 10:30AM.  The motorcade will travel until it reaches the corner of Jackson and Williams Streets to pause for a small ceremony at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monument.  It will then continue to the northwest side of St. James United Methodist Church’s parking lot.  The St. James United Methodist Church celebration service will start at 11:30AM.  The Reverend Kenneth E. Sullivan Jr., who is the pastor of New Directions Church in Indianapolis, will serve as the speaker for the program.  Also, the Danville MLK Mass Choir, under the direction of Mr. Brett Dupree, will perform.  The public is invited, and there is no admission fee.  See below for MLK speaker at Library at 5PM.

Danville Public Library “Monday Matinee” – (319 N. Vermilion St., Danville) The Danville Public Library Outreach Dept.’s free “Monday Matinee Classic” will feature the 1964 musical about a magical nanny (Julie Andrews) who comes to work for a cold banker’s unhappy family and proceeds to put things right with the help of her friend and jack-of-all-trades Bert (Dick Van Dyke).  Songs, live action blended with animation, and a lovable cast of characters bring the stories by P.L. Travers to life.  Refreshments will begin at 1:30PM, the film begins at 2PM in the 1st floor meeting room.  Please call the Library at 217-477-5220 for more info.

Martin Luther King Jr. speaker “To Honor Dr. King” at Danville Public Library – (319 N. Vermilion St., Danville) To honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., local performer and radio personality Elester Wilkerson will present excerpts from Dr. King’s famous speeches in the first floor meeting room of the Danville Public Library at 5PM.  All ages are invited to this free program.
