Honor Student Banquet

Vermilion Advantage is proud to host, on an annual basis, the Vermilion County Honor Student Banquet, which recognizes the academic excellence and achievements of Vermilion County’s graduating seniors – public and private high schools.

Each spring, Vermilion County schools are asked to send the names of the senior students who have achieved a cumulative grade point of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 or 4.5 out of a 5.0 scale during their first seven semesters.

Congratulatory letters are then sent to the parents/guardians inviting them to the banquet and honor ceremony.  The students’ meals are paid for by sponsorships from Vermilion Advantage members, area businesses and individuals who continue to support our educational initiatives.

Vermilion Advantage and an additional sponsor offer two $1,000 scholarships to students who meet the qualifications and complete an essay on a topic supplied by the scholarship sponsors.

In 2007, 158 seniors met the requirements, and at the April 19, 2007 Banquet, area business & community leaders presented academic excellence certificates to those students – a proud moment for parents, guardians, guests and teachers.

2008 will mark the 23rd Annual Vermilion County Honor Student banquet honoring the students, parents and schools.  View our flyer (PDF) for the April 17th, 2008, banquet.
