Farm City Breakfast Vermilion Advantage and the Agri-Business Council sponsor the Farm City Breakfast as an annual event held in August and hosted at various farm and ag-related industry sites such as the former Magie Show, Bunge, at the 50th Anniversary Farm Progress Show, Country Delight Farms, 2005 & 2006 at Illiana Seed and 2007 at the Doug & Vickie Miller Farm. The 2007 Farm City Breakfast speakers were the Millers on the restoration of their 1800s barn as an Agriculture Museum and the history of farming in Vermilion County. The 2007 Ag Leader award went to Steve Fourez; Ag Business was Big R North Store; and the 2007 Ag Educators were Doug & Vickie Miller. The purpose of the Farm City Breakfast is to emphasize the correlation and economic impact that agriculture has on our area; to familiarize the community with all phases of the industry (urban & rural working together); and to honor on an annual basis the Ag Education, Business and Leader of the year for their continuing efforts and contributions to the agriculture industry in Vermilion County – the urban and rural connection & partnerships. |
